• Introduce a new digital solution for esthetic direct composite dentistry.
• Discuss the advantages of using a custom matrix for placement of anterior composites.
• Describe the digital and clinical workflows, and how to select cases, when using this new 3D-printed custom matrix.
• Understand how to achieve aesthetic outcomes through a series of clinical case reviews.

Jim Hansen has a technical education in Materials Science and Engineering and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota and Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He began working at3M while a student and joined the Orthodontic Product Development group after graduate school where he led the development of Clarity™ ceramic brackets. He served in management of both orthodontic and dental product development teams for many years developing both mass produced and customized devices. He is currently Division Scientist in 3M Oral Care where his work is focused applications of Additive Manufacturing to custom device development. Most recently he led the technical team which introduced the Filtek™ Matrix to dentistry.
